Looking for Apocalyptic or Horror books that engross you with good details of scenery and emotion!

For context - I’ve read World War Z and Day by Day - Armageddon over this past week and enjoyed them both, with an obvious favoritism for WWZ.

I just want more horror, disparity, and good scene-building! Suggest away and thank you to all who do! :)
