Scariest moments from the books?

Currently re-reading the books as an adult and I have to laugh at myself for still being afraid of the Recruiters/Ten Men, even after all of this time. Just finished the part where the Recruiters break into Mr. Benedict's house and try to kidnap the children. This moment doesn't even come close to the Ten Men in Book #2.

What scary moments do you remember?
