FTC settles with mobile ad company Tapjoy over deceptive practices

Discussion

Following my comments HERE , I have been thinking about this and researching how exactly the whole system work (advertisers/Offerwall/publishers/users)

It really hit me that this is not some isolated glitch in the system or all of us mysteriously completing many offers without having to chase after credits but somehow having a lot of offers not crediting even though we do nothing differently.

The truth is that the way things work, there is no big incentive on the Offerwall partners, who are notoriously hard to contact for support, or the advertisers (who we can't even contact at all), to really do much about our missing credits.

Please read it. I think this will definitely sound familiar to you.

.

My dear swagbucks friends, the bottom line is we're being mislead and basically scammed in many cases.

I wonder why they targeted Tapjoy specifically when clearly this is part of the advertising business model. Just look at the BBB complaints on all of these Offerwall companies.

Sorry to say, but swagbucks has quite a lot of complaints as well. And I have to tell you the canned responses and complete silence to the tickets we submit is not really look good. That canned reply we've all received in the past week basically demonstrates what the FTC is condemning.

The article states that :

<<What’s interesting about this FTC ruling is that it lays the fault for Tapjoy and others like it directly at the platforms’ feet.>>

What are your thoughts?

I think US residents should consider filing a complaint .

Check out the FAQ there's information about those of us who do not reside in the US. There are channels available to file a complaint even if you are not American.
