Conspiracy Theory: Was Thomas Jefferson assassinated?
**This theory was made completely by me, and may or may not be plausible. If I may ask please give credit to me**
Theory: Was Thomas Jefferson, 3rd president of the United States, assassinated?
To start this conspiracy, both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, both presidents of the United States died on the same day. That is not a big deal, just a coincidence.
But it just so happens that the day both of these Founding Fathers died on July 4th, 1826. The year is not important, but that is largely coincidental, and one of the only reasons to explain it is...was there something else going on? Was Thomas Jefferson or John Adams assassinated?
We can, with a quick google search and much research, determine that John Adams was not assassinated, or at least a very very small chance of being so.
On the other hand, Thomas Jefferson's death was "assumed". That is where the date comes into place. Why does it just so happen that they both died 50 years EXACTLY after the publication of the Declaration of Independence?
Thomas Jefferson was 83 years of age whenever his passing took place, which you may consider old age for the time, but some people lived to be 90 to even 95 years old and even older. So who, and why, would somebody assassinate this former president?
To top this evidence off...they died HOURS apart. Just 5 hours after Thomas Jefferson's death, John Adams died.
John Adams was an important piece of history, not just to the United States, but to France as well. He served as the National Ambassador for the United States of America, to France, and served for 10 years. Thomas Jefferson was also important, he served as the first Secretary of State, second Vice-President, and 3rd president. He was also the primary Draftsman of the Declaration of Independence.
For this all to come together, my conspiracy is that Thomas Jefferson was poisoned. This happened 50 years after the Declaration, coincidently, happened on July 4th, and died the same day as John Adams - which is a huge deal, so was Jefferson poisoned, and that's how he died the same day of Adams? We know that Jefferson died of unknown causes or his "assumed death" of old age, but if so, what was the poison used, and how could they (or somebody in particular) poison him?
Might it have been one of his slaves? We know in his will he frees 5 slaves of the Heming's family, so if one of the males poisoned him, and got freed, would they ever be captured? Probably not.
So that leads us to 5 suspects. Who were they?
-
Joeseph Fossett
-
Burwell Colbert
-
Madison Hemings
-
John Hemmings
-
Eston Hemings
(Not listed in any particular order)
Starting in order, Joeseph Fossett had a previous escape attempt from the plantation on Monticello. Knowing the past, he could have also poisoned Jefferson to get away again. Monticello was Jefferson's property. Secondly, Burwell Colbert was a butler and a personal assistant to Jefferson, making an opportunity to poison him. Madison Hemings was not in any trouble. John Hemmings was a fine furniture maker. Finally, Eston Hemings was also normal. That leaves 2 suspects, Joeseph Fossett and Burwell Colbert.
Finally, what was the poison used, if any? Just for this case, I'll go with Arsenic. Arsenic has abdominal pain, and more. The "more-likely" person, in this case, would be Mr. Fossett, but Mr. Colbert would have had a better opportunity, so we will say Mr. Colbert because if he did do this, he was never caught.
Thank you for reading this entire conspiracy theory, I would love to see what you think.
