Improving in Valorant (coming from a low rank)
So recently I've been losing a lot of games, this is the reason why I decided to try and step up my game. I tried a lot of different tips but none really worked. Improving in valorant is super hard if you don't know how, and this post will (hopefully) help you guys out.
The first tip is to find your weakness, get clips of yourself and watch them. Is your crosshair placement too low? Firing too fast before your crosshair is on enemies? Straight up just missing, etc. After you find out why you're performing badly, find a way to improve.
For crosshair placement, keep reminding yourself to look higher and remember, the boxes or lines in game usually have some relation to head height, so having your crosshair around that area would help a lot.
For firing too fast you should try to slow down, take time to line up your shots with the enemy's head. This really helps with those neat one taps, and if you get used to it your first shot accuracy will get better. Sheriff heads come from practicing this.
I won't talk too much about these since the tips are usually on youtube, but instead talk about the most important. Concentration.
If you feel like you're kinda seeing the enemy but your focus isn't really there, its because your concentration is off. Once your concentration is off your aim will completely die and aim duels will be super painful since its almost impossible to win, your reaction speed will also be super slow. In valorant you should have your concentration on your enemies heads, instead of on your crosshair (not as much tracking in valorant, mostly flicks). When you don't have enemies in your vision, focus generally around your crosshair, but don't have 100% focus on your crosshair. For people with glasses (like me), you might need new glasses if you can't concentrate from farther away from your monitor, leaning closer helps but new prescriptions are needed.
Another factor to ruining concentration is tilt, no matter what try to calm yourself. Have a nice drink of tea or whatever your like, take a shower (pls not in between games), wash glasses if you got one, take deep breaths. With tilt your whole focus is on other player's performance instead of your own.
Another tip that I slightly covered is firing too fast. You aren't tenz and flick onto heads instantly. Valorant guns have super annoying recoil, so if you miss your first few bullets you better be ready to take some cover because you're gonna be dead otherwise. First (three) shot accuracy is super important, you should be killing your enemies in less than those with headshot oriented guns (sheriff, vandal sometimes, ghost).
As someone who played phantom mostly, the vandal is super clean for heads and if you take just a few ms to line up your shots, there is almost no way your enemies will kill you first. Sheriff in deathmatch will help with practicing first shot accuracy, just remember to not spam and take your time.
Now a bit of intro (at the end lol) about myself. I'm a b3 player (previously s1) who lost 4 of 5 placements this episode. I still have silver elo tho. I play one game a day and I was doing absolute garbage for the last few days before I practiced concentration and first shot accuracy. Right now I have a 7 loss streak but I feel the improvement and I have hope, there's no way I can be that unlucky, skill will win out, even with the valorant rank system.
