A phrase that makes my eye twitch everytime...

"Well, I'm just gonna put it in God's hands."

That's real speak for "I personally give up trying and I'll just wait for a free fantasy "miracle" come my way.

I've seen people say this when strapped for cash and their kids were hungry. They'll say that rather than actively budget or visit a food pantry.

I've seen people say this after getting laid off and not bother to update their resume and network

I've seen this when someone declines a vaccine shot or if they're kid is sick and want to avoid the doctors

I've seen this from someone who was in ICU with advanced heart failure, 670 lbs and literally eating a cheeseburger as he said it (I did his funeral 6 weeks later)

I've seen this when a parental couple says their child may be demonically oppressed and I suggested maybe they should see a psychiatrist for the whole family than to relive a scene from "The Conjuring".

I've seen a lot of sh*t and heard enough excuses to fill a book when I used to lead a church. People hardly ever take charge of their lives
