AMEX Employees - Centurion Approval Process

This is for any current or former AMEX employees on the form. Not that many of us are actually eligible for the card, but would love to know what the actual process is like for deciding who does and does not get the invite for the Centurion Card. Obviously there are a lot of forums out there that state the spend etc, but is the process completely automated? Is there a real life committee that actually reviews accounts? What is some information that isn’t on all the other forums (or is hard to find)? Would be very interesting to hear more of the backstory on this.
