Running kvm from usb - bandwidth requirements

hey everyone,

tldr; will a sata ssd connected to a external usb enclosure have enough bandwidth to run a kvm hypervisor ? I know it mostly depends on the adapter but what would be the minimum?

I'm planning to use clear Linux for my hypervisor BTW.

the reason I cant spare any sata ports is that I want to run freenas on my server and I have to passthrough the whole sata controller to freenas for ZFS .
