Why do people keep trying to be Korean?

As a Korean person it is very confusing to me that people are trying to be us? I don’t get why? We are normal people. We aren’t anime characters. We don’t all listen to K pop.

I grew up in a town where I was pretty much the only Asian person and I was picked on for it and now it’s suddenly the hip and cool thing? What tf is going on? Also don’t get me started on the guy who had surgery to try and look Korean.

We are normal people. Stop treating us like we are some magical breed holy shit.

“Omg!!!! You’re Korean? Omg I lovvveeee kpop do you like BTS?”

No I don’t. before you even mentioned it to me I’ve never even heard of BTS.
