New frameset feedback/advice
The reach is too short on my current frameset. A crazy long stem sort of works, but it ends up putting me way too far over the front wheel when I'm standing and forward of the BB, e.g. high cadence standing sprints, standing starts, etc. This messes up my center of balance, making it way too easy to jump the back wheel, and doesn't feel as stable as a longer frontend at higher speed.
I'm 6'3" and a sprinter. I want a bike that will be good for match sprints and keirin, but also take TT bars for the kilo. I don't see why a stiffer frame wouldn't also work for endurance events, but even though it's not my strength, I'll probably jump into some easy local eliminations, pursuit, etc for fun too. Priorities are fit, high speed stability, and stiffness. I've already run the numbers re fit, and I'm pretty adaptable with seatposts, stems, etc. I'm just trying to get feedback on strengths/weaknesses of the frames themselves.
I had a list of about 30 frames but x-ed a bunch off because they're $5000 or more, or the reach was too short and I don't want to end up with the same dynamic of bodyweight way too far forward that I have right now.
Some of these I can order online and they'll ship soon-ish, and some I'm asking around re lead time/availability:
- Look 875 Madison RS - top pick right now
- S1Neo Sprint - relatively unknown
- Dolan DF4 - easy ordering, but slipping seatpost? spreading track ends?
- Velo Flyer (Dixie Flyer) - everyone at Hellyer has one. Lead time unpredictable?
- Felt TK2 - pricy for aluminum
- Pre Cursa - affordable and tried and true. Lower stack would be better for TT bars
- Fuji Track Elite
The other option would just be to go with bespoke steel and have the builder overbuild the BB and tubing. Something like Moth Attack, Speedvagen, etc. Price would be similar to most of the carbon ones I listed, and it would add some weight for similar stiffness, but at 96kg bodyweight on a flat velodrome, a little weight is much less important than a good fit and stability. Also, longer lead time, but I'm kind of expecting to finish out this season on my current frame regardless.
Anybody have any suggestions or feedback, e.g. "you should also consider," or "from what you describe <x> is all wrong for you?
Thanks :)
