No Social security and approved GC
A couple friends of ours has never applied for SS# and they have to file taxes. The wife is the immigrant and her GC was approved in March.
How can you get a SS# when the SSA office tells her different stories every time? From what i can gather, she was told she is not eligible to get a SS#, laughable, since she is a conditional US resident already. Is there an office open to the public in any of the SSA?
In regards to filing taxes...how do you file for taxes when your spouse still don't have a SS#. She is not eligible for ITIN. Even for immigration purposes you need to file together to gather somekinda proof that the marriage is legit right?
They are both older couple. He has been in early retirement for decades now. She is a litlle bit cuckoo and not a chicken spring either.
What consequences if any can and if you keep delaying getting a SS#? I mean life is paralized for someone w/o a SS# right?
She pushed him to get married and he dragged this issue till a week before the 90 days was over. Like stated above, never have they gotten to apply for SS# and covid hit. She has a conditional GC. She came on a k-1 visa. Anyone out there has gotten their SS# after covid?
Sorry, this is more of a rant or a way to get answer how to fix that problem.
