New to Ranked

I know this is a really old game, but I recently bought it off of Steam and got 100% in the story so I have everything unlocked. I can destroy AI no problem, but playing in ranked is different.

VS some people, I couldn't even play the game. It wasn't even fair.

Anyway, atm I'm at about 500 bp with 44%WR. Can anyone please teach me how to play ranked?
