Should I be a teacher?
Good evening adhdians,
I’m trying to solve a problem in regards to why I feel a pushback when I get asked to plan an activity a week ahead for the summer camp I work for. I prefer to do planning all in one day like what we did before summer camp began but that was only 2 weeks out of the 12 (I also noticed I’m more of a person who likes to look at something and see what I can add or what I can change versus starting from scratch, guess you can say like a reviser or editor) , but we only planned two weeks. It’s hard for me to go plan and research while the kids are there doin their activities and I’m in the moment, it’s like I’m more action-oriented vs activity-planning oriented. I also feel bad when the lead camp teacher is coming up with all these ideas and doing pintrest research and I only came up with anime bingo and I ran into lots of issues making it including figuring out how to randomize enough pictures on 3x3 Bingo card for a total of 30+ bingo call cards (nightmare) (just from googling anime activities).
Like I love anime, I love music, and the kids love these as well, I just don’t have those creative ideas or projects coming to my brain unless there’s a structural environmental stimuli, such as my lead teacher giving me a deadline or something but even there is that initial pushback of so many options.
How can I be a fourth or fifth grade teacher if I don’t have the self-starting ability to create activities like these and do the research to plan when I just want to do or play
