S1, Ep 7, Left Behind, the perfect Reign episode

I have a few favorite episodes, but Left Behind in season 1 is my favorite, and I think its the best overall episode of Reign. Other episodes have more epic moments, and bigger events, but Left Behind is the best put together episode there is, with a perfect combo of the things that made Reign so much fun while being entirely free of annoying and pointless subplots that tended to weigh this show down.

If you don't remember, this is the episode where King Henri is away, and an Italian count shows up at the castle as a guest, but he's really looking for revenge for his dead son.

we got:

A terrific villain (played by Michael Aronov, killing it!) with a sympathetic story that made him more then one dimensional

Lots of Mary and her ladies sticking together

Great backstory on Catherine, which comes full circle in S2

Francis dueling with little Charles with a fork

Catherine and Mary banding together to come up with a plan

Francis being self-sacrificing

Finding a way to get Olivia out of the Francis/Mary story

Kitchen maid for a day Greer, and Leith teaming up to kill a guy

The tunnels!

Diane being a conniving biatch

Mary stabbing a guy with a fork

Catherine killing a bunch of guys with poisoned gold

Francis killing a guy with a candle holder

That red dress!

Francis is finally all in, and tells Mary he loves her.

And ending with a first time love scene that felt earned, and was played to perfection

(Extra points for the classic moment when Catherine reaches up to fix Francis' hair and him having the perfect Leave it mom, I'm a Prince reaction)

Anyone else have an episode that just hits all the right notes for them?
