Ads/noise consumption - Muting commercial breaks

[lifestyle]

The definition of minimalism for my own self has recently started to include the muting of the TV during commercial breaks. There are only a handful of things I will ever turn the TV on for, but it's comforting to know that I am only consuming what I signed up for.

For example: If I wanted to watch sports, I'm going to be only watching sports when I mute the commercial breaks (barring any in-broadcast ad placements). I never say to myself "I want to watch sports and commercials". When I mute commercial breaks, I am saving myself the extra bit of unnecessary noise which also greatly reduces the hold that ads have on me as I do other activities in the meantime. With how many commercials breaks there are in an average sitting and how the volume gets louder for commercial breaks, it does add up.

Does anybody else do this?
