Pain isn't your choice, suffering is

This breakup feels different. It's the most intense and real relationship I've ever experienced. I looked at her as my eventual wife, the mother of my future kids, and my best friend. But the reality is that we fought weekly and the divide between us grew more than our love did.

Today we decided on no contact. I'm hurting, but surprisingly, I'm in a place of peace. I've been holding onto this relationship because of the potential and not the present.

My life is wonderful, I'm in the best place mentally I've been in years, and I know she has a genuinely fantastic support group to help her through the tough times, so that comforts me.

I'm hurting, but I'm not going to let this breakup ruin me. She wouldn't want that, I don't want that, and it's a hell of a lot better than feeling miserable like I have in the past.

Hope you're all doing okay, hang in there friends.
