40 years old guy looking to advice to buy a new board
Hi, I’m 40 years old (5’8”, 183 lbs) and a total beginner on longboarding (or skating). A couple of months ago I’ve bought a Mindless core pintail (44 inch, 35.5 wheelbase, 76mm 83a wheels). I like it bc It’s smooth and confortable when I use it on the bike path, but it's too bulky to cruise around my neighborhood and I can't go up or off curbs without a kicktail (I'm too newbie to do tricks).
I'm looking a new board but I'm not sure which one is correct for my needs: cruise on the sidewalk and bike path (10 Km - 6 miles max), learn how to slide a bit (not big downhill slides, just speed checks to slow down). I'm not pretending do tricks, downhill or dance.
This are my options, I don't know if kicktail is a must to go up or off curbs (remember, I'm a 40 yo beginner) or if with stock wheels is easy to slide.
- Rally cat: nice size, rocker and has a kicktail
- Gordito pantera: nice size and has a kicktail
- Ripper: nice size, wheelbase and has a kicktail
- Drop carve: has kicktail. Too big maybe?
- Drop cat: 33 or 38, but no kicktail
- Drop hammer: good size but no kicktail.
Any advice? Thank you!
