My first ever DnD experience

OC

I had no idea what tag to put, and I just wanted to tell you all a story, if you're willing to listen.

So my first ever experience with DnD was really fun, currently I'm playing a half-incubus Necromancer(stupid OC, but I thought it was quirky enough) who's out to look for his Succubus mother who left for an inexplicable reason. I'm having so much fun RPing - in text form - and I even have a cool way to cast spells!

"Arwin, everyone else. I'm sorry for lying to you all, I truly am, however I feel that in this particular situation I'm incapable of holding back. Again, sorry." Æman took two steps towards the left hand Goblin group, "I'm sorry to you too, I truly believed we could have had peace.." Æman begins to make various hand gestures, murmuring to himself, "Third level Necromancy, Spirit Shroud.." he elaborated, suddenly a rather strong wind picked up around the Necromancer, as a ghastly scream echoed. Tormented souls seeped from the earth and began to twist around Æman in a sort of sphere, this made a rather large 10ft sphere, where weeping souls levitated around him. He began to make other gestures too, "Single slot, fourth level Magic Missiles, multiple targets. Fire." He ushered, the Weave bent and heeded his call, suddenly 6 orbs formed above his head, firing off for 6 individual Goblins.

I just figured like, why not RP out me actually doing the hand signs and vocal bits for my spells? Even if the spell doesn't require a vocal part, there's still much to learn for me, and honestly I was really anxious about even joining DnD. Since I've seen groups like CriticalRole and it always seems so complex, I haven't tried out actually using my voice to RP - too shy for that - but I'm sure I'll come around to it.

I do wish I could RP as my Graviturgy Changeling whose only goal in life is to actually find their own personality, not take on a fake one. So yea, just wanted to tell you all that. 😓
