Why does society say you’re stupid if you don’t wear protective gear for skateboarding or rollerblading but no one says the same for ice skating without gear?

Roller blading and ice skating are super similar but you never see pro ice skaters wearing helmets or knee pads. Every time I see a post about a skateboarder not wearing protective gear everyone calls them an idiot. I’m just wondering why the two are so different when you could just as easily bash you head on the ice as you could on the street?
