Digestive Issues

Hello all,

My 5 month old Newfypoo has been having what feels like nonstop digestive problems since we got him. He has diarrhea frequently, usually at least once a day. He throws up around once a week. We never feed table scraps, or anything too hard that might cause him trouble, and keep him tightly leashed so he doesn’t get into anything when we go outside.

He acts normally, plays, jumps around, is excited for walks, etc. I’ve taken him to the vet 3x, had stool samples tested and had him empirically dewormed. He’s currently on a probiotic to aid with digestion, and the vet recommended adding a fiber powder to his food, which I do whenever his stool is loose. He was on PurinaPro chicken and rice formula, but I suspect he may be allergic to chicken because of the digestion problems, and he is constantly itching around the base of his tail, pulling his own hair out, and biting his paws. I slowly over the last two weeks changed his food to Hill’s Science Diet lamb and rice formula, but today he had diarrhea and threw up both within the same 30 minutes.

I am so defeated. The vet said he may just have a puppy tummy, and it’s something he may grow out of, but my carpets, sleep schedule, and sanity are begging for a faster solution. Has anyone been through anything similar? Is there anything I’m not doing that worked for you?
