Playing with friends-2v2 or something?

Is there a way i can play like a 2v2 in this game where it's the first to get cool items and a cooler base where we can also trade or does it have to be everyone working together. I know there is a main base where you spawn at so i'm not sure how that would work - can you craft another base?
