PTS are so difficult

Sad

I have been working in this field for a few years. The hospital part only 2 months and spay neuter clinic for 4 years. I have seen my share of euthanasia's.

Today was one of the hardest ones to be present for. It was a Cane Corso that had a long good life. I was called in to help with placing a catheter. The doctor came in and explained everything to the owners. I cried ever so hard silently in my corner and the doctor put his hand on my shoulder and asked if I was ok. I nodded and straighten my self out. After the final dose the owners just balled. I calmly put my hand on the doctor and gave it a squeeze and let left the room. I went straight to my car and cried my heart out. I have been where those owners have been and it hits hard every time.

I apologized to the doctor for leaving and he looked dead at me and told me to never apologize. He also said he was crying and there isn't nothing to be ashamed about. This isn't the first doctor I apologized to about crying during a pts.

I love having doctors to talk to about this kind of stuff. They all ask how everyone is doing and encourage mental break days. I check on them after a hard day ask if they need anything and they smile and say thanks.

Just needed to talk about my day and how much we need each other. How much we need to take care of ourselves. Keep up loving yourself!!! Thanks for reading.
