How angry should I be at Geico?

I'm trying to decide how much hell to raise, and I could use some outside opinions.

Here's the short version of the situation: 4 months ago, there was a bad storm in my area (Oregon), and a tree came down and crushed my car. Annoying, but hey, this is what insurance is for. I contacted Geico, selected one of their ARX shops nearby, and the car was whisked away to be evaluated. Shop filed an initial estimate, Geico approved it, but then the shop revised their estimate higher, and Geico said they would review the changes. I never heard about a denial, and it seemed like the claim was closed on their end, so I figured all was good and work had begun.

I called the shop today to find out how the repairs were going, and it turns out Geico hadn't paid the difference between the initial and revised estimates, so the shop thought the car was being totaled and hadn't touched it. (Admittedly, I should have followed up sooner, but they have to rebuild most of the body so I expected it to take a while.) I'm now trying to get in touch with my adjuster (or anybody at Geico) to figure out WTF is going on.

I can accept that I fucked up by not following up sooner, but how much did Geico fuck up here? How pissed should I be that it's 4 months on and my car is no closer to being repaired?
