What do you think about how DDLC plus handled Monika's character so far?

I played the Monika and Sayori sidestroy and I really liked it, it was beautiful. I was kind of surprised here and there though, because Monika seemed a bit.. different from the way she was in DDLC. I guess there is a reason for that (other than her not being self aware in the sidestories), but I don't wanna spoil too much.
