Has anyone’s mental health still not recovered from the pandemic?
Just seems like mental health as a whole (especially with teens) took a huge dive this past year. The return to normal hasn’t seemed to have a great positive effect on my community like it was expected to. With the exception of one all of my friends have mentioned some mental health decline within the past year. Hell one of my friends had to go on medication and get a service dog. She was doing very well back in early 2020 and doesn’t have a history of mental health issues. Only one has gotten better since the COVID peak. So I know it’s not just me, but maybe crazy attracts crazy (I kid). What if we’re always like this… oh god
Need to rant and be selfish so here we go. I (15F) got so anxious last year due to the pandemic that (in June 2020) I became empty, unmotivated, and disinterested in what I loved (family, friends, hobbies). Because of this, I lost the sense of myself, or the empowering feeling that this is truly “me”. Because a big part of me is often a phase for teens (alternative), I’m afraid I’m just growing up, but I’m not ready to say goodbye to this side of me yet (or my friends and hobbies). I can’t imagine myself as anyone else as I’ve been like this for 3-4 years now. I just want myself back (with some healthier changes), but I’m afraid my passion, emotions, interests, and love are gone forever. My chest always feels tight and empty and my head feels like a cloud. Not trying to sound edgy but I literally don’t remember what emotions feel like. If anyone would have any advice or has gone through something similar (sorry if you have) and want to share then that would be very appreciated :)
