Brush with pattern instead of color

I installed boltbaits plugin but I still cant figure our what tool I can use to select a pattern instead of a color and paint over portions of my picture using a pattern to kinda blend that section to cover up some words as if they weren't there. Im remaking a map for a dnd campaign and need to cover up any words so that I can fill other stuff in the section. I read about fill from clipboard or file but that didnt seem to do what I wanted unless I was just doing it wrong.
