Pets and pregnancy/ new babies
I’m hoping someone here will have some sort of idea on this.
I’m 16 weeks, so still a long way to go, but I’m starting to get worried about how my dog will react when bub comes. She’s very sensitive to change, and while I know she’s never hurt bub (she’s been around little ones and is the most gentle thing) I’m worried about her getting depressed. She very much thrives on attention, and doesn’t like sharing it with her other dog siblings. My cousin visited from Germany just before covid and my dog didn’t leave her bed when my cousin left to go home (despite me being home more often and giving her more attention). She again got very depressed when my other cousin (who lived with us for 2 years) moved out with her dog, despite my partner moving in and bringing his two.
I can’t say that there won’t be a change in where my, and everyone else’s attention goes when baby is born, but how do I navigate this with such a sensitive dog, the last thing I want is for her to resent bub.
Thank you for any advice!
