Music distorting over Bluetooth earbuds (Nord)

Hello, I have this brand new one plus Nord and i purchased some Xiaomi eardots at the same time, sound is great and i love the phone. However, as soon as it starts to be a little crowded around me, especially in the train, my music slows down and speeds up like a radio out of battery, makes the music unlistenable as it completely distorts the pitch of the songs randomly , it sounds like what you'd edit over a meme of a drunk person .. I live in Tokyo so I'm constantly surrounded by a million people also using bluetooth earbuds.. I've tried unpairing the buds, re-pairing them, keeping the case fully charged, restarting the phone, trying to update everything, digged in Spotify's settings etc to no avail.. am i doomed to have nausea inducing music unless i go back to wired earphones or buy top of the line earbuds that I'll lose in a month ?

Anyone else had this problem ?
