Farming silicate powder - please let us craft
Not sure what the logic is but silicate powder is just about the only basic substance in the game that you can’t get from farming/refining (and I don’t think vendors sell it anymore either) and has to be manually hand mined with the multi-tool.
The base parts that use silicate powder are a lot less intense memory wise than wood/metal so I prefer building with those but farming the dust is so tedious and I wish there was a way to refine it from something else (or farm it like the stellar metals). Like, let us reverse refine glass back into powder or something … or put it back on vendors … or make more drop when you mine.
I love this game but standing in a hole spinning my laser around for 10 minutes to get enough powder for 1/4 of a base is boring.

Use the widest beam setting. With enough ground in reach, you can pull 1k in resources per recharge. Fill the hole back in for free, on the widest setting, then do it again. It piles up quick.
Yeah that’s what I do but it’s still boring (and kills my controller so fast with the rumble hah)
We can craft everything else in this game, some even in borderline game breaking ways (chlorine/cobalt), but not literal dirt from the ground. I’d even be fine with wasting materials if I can spin up a refiner to make some frostwort to make some glass to break down into powder. At least with a refiner you can set it to run and walk away.
Also the kind of bases I’m building use up 1k powder pretty fast 😀
I think you can use your ship, get close to ground without landing and with the Positron Ejector shoot at the ground. You should be able to get a bunch of Ferrite Dust pretty quickly.
And how is that supposed to help with silicate powder?
Sh*t, my bad, I mixed the two up, can’t remember which you get a bunch of. But you might want to give it a try to see which you get.
