State of My Guides
Hello r/finalfantasy. Those of you who have been with this group a long time might remember a FF7 guide I posted way back when. I have gotten a few PMs asking about them. A few years ago, Dropbox changed the way public documents worked, and they became unavailable. I have since switched everything over to Google Drive. Here is the latest link:

What are these guides?
I enjoy replaying Final Fantasy games every few years. These are ones I wrote for myself to streamline my playthroughs. They are intended for people who have already completed the game and are playing it again, but they should be fine for people who are new to the game. These guides were written as I played them, and then revised and refined with each subsequent replay.
They are designed to be a linear step-by-step guide to get, see, and do everything. There are no tutorials, exposition, synopsis, or superfluous information. The only time you'll find tips or explanations are for things that aren't explained inside the game. It began with Final Fantasy VII because, back then, it took 3 or 4 separate guides to do and see everything, and I wanted to minimize the amount of time spent looking for info & checking that I wasn't missing anything, and maximize the amount of time spent playing Final Fantasy.
What is to come?
In December, I filled out my collection with Steam versions of Final Fantasy and in January I began replaying them again. Some of these I hadn't played in many years. I finished Final Fantasy VI this morning, and with it came a complete pass of the FF VI guide and updating it. I've fixed a few errors, but I don't know if any of them were errors in the guide, or changes that were made to the PC port, since the previous version was based on the gameboy edition.
There might be small changes to the FF8 & FF9 guides as I play through them again. The FF9 guide is my newest and I haven't replayed it since I wrote it, so it will be the first time following my guide.
The FF12 guide was written for the PS2 version, and I'll be playing Zodiac. The changes are big enough that I'll be splitting the guide into PS2 & PC versions. I put in a lot of hours into that FFXII guide checking in on all the chest loot tables, and now I'll have to do it again instead of just enjoying it :)
What won't happen?
I don't have any plans to make new guides. I've found that the other games in the franchise already have some great guides that have been written. Djibriel on GameFAQs in particular has some great work, though way more exposition than I'd like, but everything is in one guide and presented in an orderly fashion. I'm currently replaying Crisis Core using ZeoKnight's guide, and it's fantastic.
