When has your sarcasm or dry humor gone completely over someone’s head?

Every day, but I’m also 6’4.

Children asked me if I'm working at my workplace. While I wore my work uniform. I said no, I'm emptying the trashcans for fun. They did not get it.

I worked retail in college. The manager had a meeting in one of our northern branches about 3 hours away. When she was telling me and another co-worker about it, she mentioned how it always felt so much longer going up there than coming back home.

I said, "Yeah, because of gravity. When you're going up there, gravity is pushing towards you, so you're slower. On the way back here, gravity is pushing you from the back, making you go faster."

I thought the two of them would understand the ridiculousness of it, but they said something like, "Wow. Okay, Mr. Science guy," and totally believed me.

I laughed and told them that that's not how it works! It was a good thing I got along with them great before this, because if not, I probably would've been fired for laughing at a manager in her face.

I've reached the level of sarcasm where even I'm not sure whether I'm being sarcastic or not.
