What the hell is with mothers and their sons.
My brother is the golden child. It's not because he is overly accomplished or anything; I think it's simply because he is the youngest and only boy.
My parents just DO NOT see the discrepancies between how they treated my twin sister and I vs him.
Examples:
While my brother was in his teen years and having a growth spurt they marked his height on a wall, when my sister and I came back from uni we put our heights there for fun. The next time we were home it was erased
Yesterday I was eating food and tried to get more sour cream, my mom yelled at me and said "have some restraint !" And expressed concern for my "health" (sour cream is bad for your heart!). My brother was quite literally eating fish and chips.
My brother and I worked in the same area in highschool. I biked to be work everyday and when I asked for a ride I was greeted with judgement. Come to find out my brother who worked in the same area ALWAYS had access to their car.
My brother can claim expensive home items for himself. He took a Dyson fan they purchased for the home to university. If I had done this I would have been skinned alive.
My mom expressed how as a "mother of a son", when my brother was in middle school she was scared for her boy because of all the flirtatious girls... Meanwhile I was actually sexually harassed during these times and up into high school. I think we can agree it's more common for the opposite (not saying men cannot experience sexual harassment but it's just very telling she expressed no concern for me)
