I'm currently playing through the Sunny route, but I'd like to start a new file and go through the Omori route before getting the game's good ending. With minimal spoilers, what would be the best point in the Sunny route to pause and start a new game? I'm aware of the ending triggers, but otherwise haven't spoiled much for myself.

One thing to note: The Omori route doesn't end. You can continue playing in Headspace forever. You could count yourself as finished after >!finding headspace Basil!<, but if you wait until you've done everything there is to do on Omori route Headspace, it's going to be a long time before you get to finish.
If you want to cut your Sunny run somewhere, I'd say you probably want to do everything after completing Hangman without interrupting it with a whole other run.
I ended up going until the end of Black Space, which I thought made for a decent cliffhanger. I've built up a high tolerance for replaying games after getting all of the endings in Nier: Replicant, so I don't mind going though the game again before fully resolving the story.
If you don't want any spoilers at all then just make 2 save files when you wake up on day 1 (three days left) then go back to sleep. Leave one of those files untouched so you can come back later to do Sunny route.
Oh yeah, I know how to trigger it, I'm more looking for suggestions from people who've played both routes in terms of what the best order to experience them is.

So, you still don't know all of the truth? Where are you currently in the main route?
Regardless, I recommend finishing the hangman, then whatever comes next ( >!Black Space!< ) Then after that and you wake up in the real world, go back and start Hikikomori route.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm in Humphry right now, so I'm almost done with the normal Mind Space areas.
