US medical dramas should make a point of highlighting the cost of the treatment
My GF likes a lot of these medical dramas and I've kinda got into the good doctor.
On the good doctor and I'm sure other medical dramas are the same they often present patients with difficult choices and they aren't allowed to tell the patient what to do but they can advise them.
For example it'll be something like "You can have this really risky experimental surgery and you'll be able to walk again but its got like a 70% mortality rate or you can have this safe surgery that will safe your life but you'll still be unable to walk"
They never say how much the options will cost will cost. Im not from America but I think surely this would be quite an important factor. Lets say the experimental surgery was like $1m and your insurance didn't cover it for some reason then surely that would be an important part of your decision.
