Epic and Heroic Last Stands

With all the stories of triumph and glory I've read about Wildermyth, there would also be that of loss and despair. But that doesn't mean they have to be gloomy. What are the stories of epic and heroic last stands you've had with your party?

I'll start with mine. On my first assault on the Deepists' Castle Under the Mountain, my party easily cleared the first room and the following passageway. However upon reaching the door to the large chamber, my party was quickly blocked off by Shadow Hunters with morr approaching from behind. Combining my warrior's raider skill to start a fire and my mystic's (Juliet) fireleash, a path forward was cleared. This wasn't without a cost, the enemy approaching from behind has already killed my ranger and other mystic while cutting off Juliet from the remaining two warriors by having three Shadow Hunters surround her along with other Deepists troops. In a final act of heroism, Juliet interfused again with a flame and leashed it back and forth between the Shadow Hunters surrounding her. She killed two along with some Woken while severely wounding the third one. She finally fell to the last hunter but this gave the two survivors of the party a chance to advance. The mission was ultimately a failure but the last stand of the mystic Juliet will be remembered through her legacy.
