It’s a fan fave so it is a hit in my ❤️ One of her artsy/edgy dreamy tracks. That’s her element and I wish it was a single. Circus is one of my all time fave albums. Hella underrated and classic. I just wish Trouble was on it instead of Radar again. I love Radar but it was strange to have it on blackout and circus.

Probably because it’s not sexual but I love it. So sad but hopeful

It shows her vulnerability and sheds a light on her past relationships.

I know what you mean! She has so many good songs that didn’t become mainstream hits!

Blur, get back, heaven on earth, toy soldier, why should I be sad, and then we kiss! Those are just a few of my faves that weren’t played on the radio (that I know of) but definitely could’ve been

She’ll Never Be Me is also very radio friendly. Cinderella too. Honestly, the whole Britney era was legendary.

You’ve named my fav Britney songs from that era!!

I really think “Breathe on Me” was a missed opportunity for a single. I think it would have been a hit in the era of that album & had amazing potential for possible music videos.

An absolutely gorgeous song. I feel like I really missed out on this and the album, not hearing it until last year.

I admit that I basically forgot about Britney after the chaos of 2007/2008--it was too painful to keep tabs on her story after she suffered so much during those years. And I felt gross, having been part of the public that was secretly obsessed with her. When I started to realize the scope of he problems, I was like ooooooohhh boy, this is not good

I'm rooting for her to get out of this conservatorship and live her happily ever after.

It's one of my all-time favourites, I have vivid memories of driving around in my best friends Oldsmobile bumping this whole album, this was one of our constantly-played tracks.

I love this song!

I love this song too, but streaming and social media were pretty much non-existent in 2008-9. It could have only been a hit if it was a single, but it wasn't a single. People would have had to buy the CD, or buy it on iTunes to get the song (legally).

Also, this song has Indie-pop vibes (?), which probably have aged very well, but might not have been the sound of 2008-9. Songs from that time were much more in-your-face. But still, it's a great song.

Indie pop vibes, what does that mean. Otherwise, I agree with your analysis!

Kind of? I think that might the the closest to that genre that Britney's ever gotten. It's a lot more reverb-y and breathy than popular songs usually were during that time. For example, I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas and You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift are so huge and don't sound anything like Unusual You. Unusual You sounds so much more intimate, which you didn't hear much in popular music back then. I hope that makes sense.

Have more confidence in yourself. Yes, it does make sense.

I think she has not been promoted and gotten good PR and exposure since the conservatorship.

I was thinking about how this entire album is extremely unique in the sense that its simultaneously retro and futuristic, the song you mentioned, 3 and blur are perfect examples. Out from under also sounds like a 90s song in the best way possible

My fave Britney song of all time, always been obsessed with it!

I think it's mainly because Britney has always put out dance singles, with circus - title track and womanizer became crazy huge. IMO Britney team never capitalized on her true talents, Britney to GP has always been seen as dance pop her gems are only seen by fans!
