Beastmen PSA: Don't abandon incomplete herdstones even if you put it somewhere stupid.

Even if you have put it somewhere stupid, you will not get that herdstone shard back thinking you might be able to relocate it to complete the ritual it'll never finish.

You will have to abandon a herdstone that's already finished the ritual to get the shard back.

Ok, now I have to try it myself.

I put a herdstone where I couldn't cause enough devastation (I thought the ruins had Skaven in them) so I'm stuck at 6, and I got another one in a stupid location for confederating Malagor.

I hope I can get the shards back.

Edit: I did get the shards back. Maybe it was a bug for OP?

Me and a buddy had this issue, it may only be an issue in co op. OP were you playing co op? Another problem we had was we would put a stone up and it would treat it like an occupied city and have no destruction counter over it, leading to having to abandon the stone leading to not getting it back.

How do you get them back then? Playing co op, had same issue. Abandoned the town, now I'm stuck at 0 with no possibility for more

The only way I got it back was abandoning a settlement that I'd already performed the ritual in. If you don't already have one, you will have to restart as I haven't found another way to otherwise undo that hardlock since there's no way to progress ruin otherwise.
