Shiny and New
the crystal mansion shatters with might,
the sound filled with fright,
a new statue emerges in sight,
its crystalline skin letting in new light

Is this about rebirth? Or maybe something like metamorphosis? It speaks to something like that, and it does so very nicely. I like the simplicity. Great work.
I like the image you’ve created; it has a real science fiction feeling to it.
Just a couple of technical things to consider. Maybe think about the punctuation if you haven’t already. Try punctuating it like a sentence and see if you like the feel of it, especially with a full stop at the end. Also, some of the lines feel quite rhythmic, almost as if you could just change a couple of syllables to give it more of a rhythm (without it being completely in a set meter). Just as an example, the last line could be have a solid bounce to it if you phrased it differently: “Its crystal skin lets in new light”. This is just a suggestion and it’s completely down to what you want from the poem, but I like playing with rhythm.
Overall I liked it!
I'm not sure if rhyming adds to this short poem, and I'd be curious to see a version where you explore this concept without smooshing it into a relatively simple monorhyme.
Other small notes:
Interesting poem OP! I like the metaphor here. If I'm understanding correctly the crystal mansions are sort of like skyscrapers or something of that sort and new statues are just new buildings that come in their place. I might be getting the wrong image, but I still think this has strong symbolism.
As others have said, it reminds me of rebirth, but what perhaps struck out even more to me was the possible reference to 9/11. If that's the case, I think this is quite a clever design. The fright of seeing them fall and the light that shines through what comes in its place. A beautiful reminder of something awful, but leaves hope for growth. Nothing stays dead for long sorta thing.
Yeah, this has many interpretations and good symbolism, with a deep meaning that goes far beyond what's written down. I gotta say, strong work here.
I really like the rhyme scheme you use here, simple yet effective. My favorite line is probably the second, because it shows how this process of "rebirth" is scary as hell. TBH, I love how the first line sounds when read aloud, the assonance (I think thats what its called lol) fits well with the other 3 lines, but I feel as if the scene youre trying to create is muddled some with this imagery. Personally tying together the imagery of a crystal mansion morphing into a statue feels like trying to compare apples and oranges. Maybe this imagery is a reference to something deeply personal to you, in which case fuck my critique, its amazing as is and IMO poetry should be for the writer first, and the reader second. If youre going for a ~vibe~ though I would switch out mansion for something else more closely related to statues.
Great poem though OP, impressed by how you were able to use 4 lines and easy rhymes to convey a deep thematic message. Keep writing!!!
