Ratchet wrench set came without a holder. No big deal. 0.2 layer height and 50% infill should be durable enough in storage

Nice. I've been wanting to make a set of racks for my spanners but every one is differently sized and it's kinda daunting 😅
Just measure each one with a calliper and create the rack by slicing appropriate size slots in a cube. At the top add some round ridges to hold them in.
Perimeters are more import than infill for strength.
That said even standard parameters should be fine for this use.
This looks great! Although I've noticed this trend quite a bit in the 3d printing community:
You do not need to design using the same rules that injection molded products are designed with, and often times it is worse to do so.
It would have been better to design this for printing on its side, such as the whole thing having a constant profile! That way stress is going with the layers not against, and the only overhang you'd need would be the bridging at the top of the handle, which should print mostly fine.
Not saying this isn't a great design! It looks very functional.
It was indeed printed as it is sitting on the table here. Stresses on the print are going to be minimal since it will just hold the wrenches during storage and small layer height + 40% infill should keep the slot barriers from snapping from use.
I am sure this will do the trick, just giving my perspective. It would have likely needed 10% infill and 2 perimeters and had 2x thicker layers and worked fine if printed sideways. And that would have cut your print time down.
True, but it wasnt a huge print anyways but ill keep this in mind next time i need rigidity
and small layer height + 40% infill should keep the slot barriers from snapping from use.
Lower layer heights give less layer adhesion, so they'd actually weaker than thicker layers
Nice it looks like a little school bag 💼
I like that better than the one that came with mine! Takes up a whole lot less room too!
A compact design should be super easy for any wrench set, i recommend firing up Fusion 360 or Tinkercad and making your own

Great work! I'm trying to make a holder for my miniature screwdrivers very similar to this! No holder came with the drivers.
I put numbers on mine that I designed a few weeks ago.
That's awesome! I didn't even know layer height affects strength
At lower heights they fuse together better
Can I get the STL?
Here for the Stl this would be great for a backpack
If you can't get an stl this wouldn't be too hard to design yourself. It's just a box with holes cut into, essentially.
Most definitely, you can learn CAD basics in a weekend and that knowledge takes your printer from being a toy to an invaluable tool.
Its so incredibly worth it. Even if its just for custom spacers and washers.
That's what I did and design my own tools and such to work on cars. BMWs often have special tools required that I can quickly design and print. Printer has paid for itself
Its easy to make yourself, especially if your wrenches differ in size
But this is the lidl set we all have isn't it ?
Caught me. Ill be honest the design could do with some rework to be good enough to share but it suits my needs with some diy fixing so i dont really have the motivation
