At the end of the episode Lois says "I'm sold on my small town guy" when asked about living in Smallville. It is similar to what Martha said to Jonathan when they were at dinner in the early parts of season 1. I do not know if it is a throwback but it reminded me of that particular scene.

The show is filled with references from Superman history
My favorite Smallville show Easter egg is probably the logo of the show pasted on the Smallville water tank. It might have been in previous eps but I only saw it in today's ep
The spot Jordan and Sarah made out (pond) looked a lot like the place in Smallville where that old man fell into the pond and became young again
Same. It also reminded me of when Lois said this to Clark on Smallville:
"Smallville is my home, Clark. This Smallville right here." While putting her hand on his chest.
Same, “but not that Smallville.. this one”
Kent was such a good episode 10x17
This show is filled with references and nods to Smallville, it really is a spiritual successor.
Absolutely how I view it
Take it a step further, S’n’L can be Earth-1 and Smallville can be Earth-2.
Making Tom Kal-L and Tyler Kal-El.
