Google photos help

I'm hoping this post doesn't get removed but I don't know what else to do.

I use a Huwaei P30 and I am almost always taking photos, they are quite important to me and I often upload to social media about days out, family and just general life stuff.

A few weeks ago I hit sync or something with my Google account linked to my phone and just like that, everything I was removed from my phone and put on the cloud.

Simply, all I want is to put the photos from the cloud back on to my phone. I can go to the photos on the cloud a d download individually but I'm looking for a more efficient way to do it with over 700/800 photos.

The other problem I have is that their date and location have been muddled? Now when I download a single photo it puts it right to the very front of everything. Since I'm behind on uploading important photos to me, this is just a nightmare as I can't remember which photos were taken before others.

So how do I get my photos back on my phone, in date order in an efficient way? A problem like this is the exact reason why I don't use cloud services because now everything has messed up all because of this Google sync button.
