air conditioning making clicking noise. Is this something I need to have looked at?

Hello, my question is about my car's ac. It seems every time it cycles on I can hear a clicking sound when it turns on and then it stops. It's an 08 nissan rogue. Is this something that could potentially get worse and I should go ahead and take it in to be checked or is it something normal. Thank you for any insight.

That's the sound of the AC clutch engaging and disengaging. That's normal. Are you getting good cooling? If not, then rapid clicking (on for a few seconds, then off for a few seconds, then on again) is a sign of low refrigerant charge and that should be checked out.

Thank you, yes the cooling is working good. I had to recharge the refrigerant about 2 years ago and just did it again because it wasn't as cool as it used to be and with the weather in Florida it sucks to be driving around with an ac that's not cooling like it should. It makes the clicking noise intermittently but it's definitely more than a couple seconds between cycles. It's a 13 year old car and I've got 125,000 miles on it now so I wasn't sure if it was better to go have someone look at it but also I don't want to spend money if it's not necessary. Thanks again.
