Slow and jerky on iPhone?

Hi all excuse me if this has been asked before but I seem to have a lot of problems with how slow the app is running on my iPhone, are there any suggestions about what to do? For example should I delete it and re-download it? Sometimes the timed lessons take 20 seconds off the time while it is starting that lesson, other times it takes one minute for the app to load.
