We’ve all been the newbie rogue with an edgy backstory

...taken in by the nice lady at the market who sells crêpes. This is why they call me... "sticky fingers".
Sometimes not explaining things can make a great backstory. My rogue’s backstory is just “Did some illegal stuff, got caught, had to skip town”. No reasoning or justification as to why he is a gentleman psychopath, or why he is in on the adventure, he just is because he’s enjoying himself.
Hot damn. A Frasier reference!
Inquisitive rogue here, my backstory is an escaped slave who now has to be on the lookout to not get identified and caught
No, you will roll your eyes at some point early on.
Time to flex my non-edgy rogue-
My first character was an edgy, orphaned Ranger...
...who later multiclassed into Rogue.
you know what, because of all the memes, out of the 5+ rogues i've played, not a single one of them has an edgy backstory.
I have a Rogue who is an Orphan taken in by a band of thieves and I wouldn't call them edgy.
They're just her new family.
My current char is a college of glamour bard who saw her family killed in front of her and her family emblem smashed, but somehow the smashed family emblem reanimated as a retextured dancing scimitar and she fights with that
In other unrelated news how are y’all 4 stack irelia passive?
I actually read the end of that thinking "wait a second". Also I perma ban her atm.
Introducing my second character: a war forged fighter who is made out of cloth and stuffing instead of metal and was imbued with the soul of her creator and wields the last momento she has of her creator, a pair of scissors magically infused to deal radiant damage and also expanded to be fucking massive
Hey you'll get an easy BBEG for that campaign at least. I kinda wanna make a bard with proficiency in firearms, who believes that there is art in killing and thinks of every battle as a performance. Also his gun only fires four bullets.
It’s gonna be hard getting your DM to allow a guaranteed crit, even if it is once every 5 turns(1 turn for reloading). Also simp bad guy is kinda a trope, id rather ruined king be an actual old guy
Part of being a forever DM is getting to put some thought into char ideas when you get the chance to be a PC. The one time I was a rogue, I was part of a ninja clan with my char's brother and parents in tact. My irl brother (the DM) would even have them operate along side me and the rest of the party.
I'm an orphan, taken in by the thieves guild.
Not me haha I’ve never played a rogue!
Nothing wrong with playing a stereotypical background. Doesn't mean the character is incapable of being interesting.
