I recently unearthed a Trainspotting VHS...I think whoever wrote the description may have forgotten a major plot point.

This sounds like an heartwarming movie about the power of friendship that my children are sure to enjoy. Plus, they really like looking at trains.....
OMGDIVINGINTOILETBABYONTHECEILINGEWANMCGREGORSPENISWHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I recall reading the back of "Pretty Woman" and it saying something like "Richard Gere is a high powered businessman who thinks he's got it all figured out- until he meets freespirited Julia Roberts!"
I just couldn't help but think of the writer's thoughts when trying to come up with the summary: "Should I go with 'Julia Roberts - the prostitute,' 'Julia Roberts - who sucks dick for money,' or 'Julia Roberts - the freespirit.' Let's let the boss decide."
Why just from the cover you can tell what an upstanding young group of lads we have here. I bet the "ultimate scam" is for charity!
Yup, it's to save the orphanage.
They were on a mission from God.
I think the major plot point was left out for a good reason. It's a spoiler. Ewan McGregor was a ghost. I got goosebumps the first time I saw the scene where the suppository hits the floor and you realize he's been dead the whole movie.
Wat
3 words. Bruce Fucking Willis.
Wat.
Oh, hahaha!
I second the wat. I've seen it a number of times and never came to that conclusion
I think you're thinking of The Sixth Sense :-/
I think he's just joking/trolling.
It happened drowning in a toilet looking for methadone that simply didn't exist ... Scotland. Not even once.
Almost equally weird that it has a positive blurb from Good Morning America, not exactly their target demo I think.

The DVD copy of Trainspotting I have is the exact same.
It's really the story of five friends: they forgot Tommy.
Even the posters and cover for the film forgot Tommy.
Because Tommy (Kevin McKidd) was away on holiday when they shot the pictures.
When in Rome...
I think whoever wrote the review didn't even bother watching the movie.
It's also a really good book.

uhh i know what they missed : the BABY :)

Finally saw it about 2 days ago. The scenes involving feces are down right hilarious. Excellent movie and an interesting take on addiction.
Maybe this is the airline edit that's one hour long and is about a bunch of friends who like drinking and vitamins.
Duh. Robert Carlyle plays the only moderately slightly crazier person in their circle.
Miramax was famous for this kind of stuff. Hell, just watch the trailer for My Left Foot:
I never even refer to it as "Trainspotting" it's always just "The Dead Baby Movie".

I was wearing my trainspotting t-shirt around 1999, and a cashier in tower records said "omg I love that movie. I would love to live their lifestyle!"
I can't help feeling that the point of the movie was lost on her, just a little...
Honestly, I think it was lost on a lot of people, I know three people I grew up with who saw it and thought heroin looked so cool. I can't believe anyone could be that dumb.
That's why I think Requiem for a Dream is a better heroin movie. No one could watch that movie and think heroin is cool.
i agree...that's why Trainspotting is the better heroin movie. It makes heroin use juust as fun as it is, whereas Requiem for a Dream (the superior movie IMO) makes it look like heroin is ALWAYS bad, totally one-sided view of the drug
HOW CAN THEY BOTH BE BETTER THAN EACH OTHER?
The first half of Requiem for a Dream is the characters enjoying their heroin use and living a fun life. It's about the destructive nature of addiction, not a propaganda movie against narcotics.

Amen, I feel like Trainspotting glorified it. Candy is another one that will make you never go near the shit.
Trainspotting glorified it...
You think the few positives of the film outweigh the negatives which include...
Being desperate enough for a fix that someone climbs into the worst toilet in the world to retrieve a suppository.
A mother and her friends being so fucked out of their minds that they fail to notice her baby suffering until after it is dead.
A formerly healthy and social young man becoming so addicted that he loses his girlfriend and sells his possessions and then dies from a brain tumor induced by a kitten he had bought to win back his girlfriend that then shat and pissed over his entire house.
Renton's insane dreams during his transition back to sobriety that include the dead baby crawling on the roof and laughing.
Plus all the shit that the characters go through just to get another fix.
Sure it ended on a high note and is less "holy fuck" than other films about drug use but i would hardly call it glorifying the use of heroin.
And that's why I never understood the appeal of Trainspotting.

or she was just joking...
It didn't seem like it when she said it.
Had to be joking.

you think? :)
I can't believe some people didn't notice that it was an anti-drug film.
