I had a 14 FXT and would pretty consistently get 28-30mpg. The trick is to not hit boost all the time. 😂. Also, the Subaru computer tends to be a bit optimistic in my experience. I always prefer actual calculations. I just got 27mpg actual calculation when I filled my 21 OBXT today.
I’ll be doing the math once I empty the tank! And yes, I drive watching the boost gauge and stay off of it as much as possible.

How intense are the calcs for tire wear and inflation on your mileage
Not very at all. I usually run a couple psi higher than recommended on the door for better road feel, but that's vehicle dependent. I switch to winter dedicated tires and wheels in the winter and summer specific tires in the summer. I averaged 26mpg with my 19 WRX limited year round over 2 years. I pay attention to mileage as it's a great way to keep track of fuel expenses and to get some insight about trends. Did I get a tank of bad gas, or is something possibly up with the engine? That sort of thing, but I'm more just about driving. It's smiles per gallon anyway, which is why I have a turbo. If I was all about effeciency I'd have a NA... Or the plug in hybrid Crosstrek.
Who wants to be the one to tell them the onboard MPG calculator isn't accurate?
Idk maybe- but the fuel gauge is still just below half and was filled a mile from home. Not accurate appraisal but seems decent.
It looks good for MPG, but it overestimates by ~3 mpg. 28-29mpg is still really good though, but don't rely on the on board calculations for accurate mpg.
Kinda sad. I got 18/19 mpg with my 2014 Sierra with the 5.3 running regular. 3.2 liters difference in displacement & they get the same mpg mostly.
Yeah I had a Tacoma before my XT. I thought I'd save money on gas with the switch but nope. Maybe 3ish mpg better but paying for premium.
I’m typically 1-2 mpg below what the trip computer states when I calculate it out manually
That has to be accurate then. The tank is only about 14 gallons
God bless your right foot. I have a 14 XT and I have never seen over 22 MPG.
Ditto
Replaced my cabin and engine filters as well as CVT fluid change, and now I’m at ~31-32 MPG.
Did you change CVT fluid yourself or take it somewhere?
Mechanic did it. A change requires a lot of CVT Fluid. That procedure cost me $80 for parts and labor.
That doesn’t seem too bad, mine is at 70k miles and I don’t think it has ever been changed.
I just crossed 60k, so I figured it was the best time to do all of these things. Next oil change will also include the gear and differential oil change as well.
My '12 gets about 22 on the highway if I drive fast, if I really try I can get 29 but it's hard to keep it up. Jealous.
I was going to say this is more driver mod than anything. I got about the same MPG as you and I have a 2.0 XT Forester I think it has more to do with how you drive Op probably doesn't go faster than 60 and rarely hits boost
Did a Bodega bay trip and back to sac with stop and go traffic and got 28mpg.

I got 30 mpg on my ‘17 XT (driving from western NY to DC).
I get about 28mpg if I drive like a grandma. But it usually hovers around 24-25mpg.
I just drove a 240 mile round trip in my 2015 xt with roof rack and kayak on top, 2 adults and 2 60# dogs and the entire back seat filled to the top and got 27.7 mpg. I typically get 23-25 in city and 29 on interstate.
I once got about 34mpg on my 2019. Best tank to date. Most tanks are about 25-28mpg.
My current best according to dash display is 34.6mpg , 20 sport
Or so it says.
The dash lies to you. Do real MPG calcs using the gallons from a full tank of fuel and your trip meter to find true mpg-you'll likely find its 2-4mpg lower.
Still can’t believe theyll give you mpg or oil temp etc etc but no coolant temp gauge
Damn. I just did western NY to eastern MA in my ‘18 limited and the best I did was about 29. On the way back I drove faster and it was closer to 27. Mostly cruise control.
Every time I manually calculate my mpg on my '14 Forester XT I'm around 21mpg. 31 is crazy to me, I don't know how you don't hit boost all the time lol 😂
Are you taking your Fozzy to Wicked Big Meet this year?
My 2015 XT is lucky to get 23mpg in I mode on the interstate. Please share your secrets!
I just love sport mode too much.
93 and drive slower. At 78 heading to KC i get like 24 or so. At 70 that goes to 26/27.
I’ve also noticed a big difference between 75-80 and 65-75mph.
I drove out west recently and driving all around Wyoming/Montana where the speed limit is 80 absolutely massacred my gas mileage
Was just in Montana and drove 85-90. Was lucky to get 22
Yup. Right around 70mph my MPG dives down to about 23. Below 70 mph I can eek out like 26.
If I'm doing big trips I lock the cruise control to 60. Manage to get from Seattle to redmond oregon in a single tank. Through the mountains and everything.
No clue. I don’t use cruise control, there are lots of undulating hills (not a flat trip at all) and I keep it around 68mph, allow the car to gain momentum on downhills and and keep the speed steady and momentum conserved on uphills. Standard ‘I’ mode. Wife, kid and vacation gear in car. 🤷♂️.
Cruise control at or below 65 and you can average 30 no problem. My all time best was averaging like 33.5 mpg during a drive from Colorado to New Mexico. All highway and the elevation drops from like 12k feet to 5k.
‘06 XT and probably pulling 15. Share YOUR secrets!
