A question for someone now afraid to paint

I've always had a bad time with painting trims, so I was hoping to spray my spews a silver and paint over that I am cautious however if having the trims of the armour and the metal of the mechanics of the knight be the same colour would simply look bad, has anyone managed to pull it off and I'm simply worrying about nothin?
