The US political system is a first-world dumpster fire.

Convince me I'm wrong.

Yeah, just listening to Biden fumbling a sentence for 30 seconds and then giving up on completing his thought is enough proof.

Trump went on live TV and suggested injecting disinfectant could be a cure for coronavirus. You should sit this one out.

Minor speech impediment

You’re kidding right? Forgetting about what you’re even saying while speaking is NOT a minor issue. It is NOT speech impediment. It’s onset dementia.

You obviously have not watched any videos of him having trouble speaking.

No he had his faults, but he wasn't actively trying to run everything in the ground

Dude, he evoked (if not led) an insurrection. He made fake claims about both elections being rigged and when he lost he literally tried to run the US democracy into the ground, ROFL.

But I guess you see what you want to see.

8

Lmao he ran this country like he ran his casinos and every other business, like an egotistical maniac who was in over his head day one. Constantly having less money then he started with when daddy loaned him a couple hundred million and repeatedly refilling his bankroll through an escalating level of dubious lenders doesn't make him a good businessman. The only "good" things he did was whatever McConnell already wanted. And good is in quotes because McConnell is a hack owned by foreign interests.

For those of you questioning it... Ripple also supports the Wyden-Lummis-Toomey Amendment in Infrastructure Bill.

I feel like ur wrong on this one. Why is this bill bad for us? Please sight direct examples. None of that fear mongering bs. Show me in the bill whats bad & why. Or delete ur pos post

kekehippo•

Bill talks about forcing brokers to report people's holdings. So if you're holding through a wallet it won't effect you until you go to liquidate.

To further add on to this, the crypto debate, regulatory or otherwise needs a broader debate. Instead of trying to force it through via a must-pass infrastructure bill.

The Bill talks about forcing brokers to report. Not wallets. So if you transfer and sell through an exchange (ie broker) that broker will report that transfer and sale.

Ripple, Coinbase, Binance, and Stellar all agree this is bad and advocated for the Wyden-Lummis-Toomey Amendment to the Infrastructure Bill.

Ofcourse it’s bad and we would make it without it but you have to be realistic and know that the corrupt state want their cut and they will get it.. Hopefully not in the way they want in this bill and it will be rewritten..

1†
dakonofrath•

ya I'm not sure why this is bad. Crypto needs more regulatory clarity. This is only bad for exchanges that don't want to comply with federal mandates that regular brokers already have to do and once the language is cleared up it won't have any negative impact on average investors.
Here's a link I read with some info in it about the bill: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/08/03/what-crypto-investors-should-know-about-the-senate-infrastructure-bill.html

As I understand the Problem is the language is so vague it gives regulators free reign to essentially strangle the industry out of existence if they want to.

11
dakonofrath•

ya I read that the wording is vague, but also that the authors of the amendment are rewriting it to clarify the wording so it will work as intended. I look forward to seeing how they reword it.

1
AutonomousAutomaton_Redditor for 9 months•

I hope not bc “as intended” means to kill the industry as a whole. Lots of bankers and status quo guys don’t want crypto taking off and there is a lot of money and influence behind killing it while it’s in its nascency. Crypto lobbyists have been somewhat successful in changing the language - specifically to exclude miners from being categorized as brokers, but the language is stilL Vague enough that it honestly won’t matter. It still gives regulators too much to take a bite out of.

1

dakonofrath•

the authors of the amendment have already said the goal of the wording isn't to attack miners, but to force exchanges and brokers to follow the same rules and regulations that normal stock market brokers and firms have to follow. So once they clear up the language, miners shouldn't have anything to worry about.

The only people who should worry are crooked brokers and exchanges that don't want clarity or transparency in what they are doing and where the money is going. I have no issues with those people and exchanges being wiped out.

If anyone has not yet understood why this all began and why it is still being resisted. I offer you this quote from the association statement.

"Cryptocurrency networks are open source and run on the internet; they are here to stay whether the United States participates in their development or not."

Understand yet?

Much of what's going on is total b******* - BUT, for an XRP holder, the serves well as they've long position themselves centralized and bank friendly.

XRP will thrive - especially if it gets tied to a gold standard.
