When the April Monthly program came out, everyone was complaining that the cards were too good and easy to get. Now everyone is complaining that the July Monthly cards aren't good enough to use. Sadly, people will always complain.

I think it’s fair to say that these cards should be better than the April ones. Especially since the Votto card is incredibly underwhelming. He’s not even top 5 first base cards. They made a collection reward that is useless upon release
You’ve got to remember that he’s a free card, though. Of course the other 1B available are going to be better since they cost a lot of stubs to obtain. Murray is still hovering around 90-100k which is a lot if you’re first starting out.
Castellanos is free and better
I don’t know if I would count it as free in the same way as the innings or TA cards. Those can be completed just by playing, the challenges just speed it up. The monthly awards cards require you to complete every topps now moment and (almost) all the monthly challenges and moments, some of which can be quite difficult. I think it is reasonable to want the reward to equal the work, and I do not feel this meets that
Votto isn't useless, but there definitely isn't anything compelling about him either

To help bring awareness to this. There’s always so many negative posts about cards being “L” or “garbage” and it’s sad to see. For the non-vocal people who look at this sub, I want them to know not everyone hates on every card.
Plus, it could be offensive to people who like the card. Imagine you like something in real life but everyone is just saying it’s garbage or not worth it. That wouldn’t be very nice.

No it’s complaining that there are more usable cards than votto that released 4 months ago. Now I don’t think I’m satan for wanting a card that is fun to use and at least a little good.
A 99 player isn’t good? I don’t think it’s fair to say a 99 can’t compete with other 99s at the same position. Ya he may not be the best one but then again if he was then everyone would be using him and that’s what people were complaining about with Buxton

Take this with a grain of salt since I’m a first year xbox player. But I think that the cards have ramped up to 97’s and 99’s super fast and there’s really not much room to make new cards any better when by mid July I can make a team affinity line up with 97’s-99’s. Maybe if the cards started at 87-89 in april, 92 may, 95 july, etc we would have more room for improvements with the cards.
I think the issue is it’s an unusable 1B as the final reward considering what has come out with TA3 and the all star game stuff.
I love the content and have fun playing to get it but yeah I’ll grind for Votto and probably never use him or anyone along the way

Because not everyone has the best cards or wants to always play with the best cards. If this was the best 1B and everyone will get him for free then we’ll just see him in every lineup
I mean for me, I’m a Reds fan. So the minimal difference between Votto and the other 1B isn’t worth not using one of my favorite players. I’m still using his 92 currently for a reason.

I think the whole system would need a rework for it to provide a more meaningful curve or progression. Right now, overalls start at 40. If they were to start lower, say 30, it would give us 10 more points to spread out the power level of cards. For instance, first monthly reward could have been 85-90 instead of 95. You could then have a smoother progression towards 99. It could also push back the moment where everyone has a 99s team, so early high 90s could feel really special.
Right now, you can easily have a high 90s team and we're about halfway through the season. It's harder to feel excited for new cards when they're sidegrades or barely upgrades.
They definitely ramped up way too fast, but you have to remember their window is pretty small. Once September hits, they lose a ton of people to other sports games or other holiday releases. They have March/April-September to themselves largely and they gotta take advantage of that.
I do wish there was a way to delay 98/99 cards until August and not June/July.
I agree that the system could have a better progression. I just think it’s funny how people complain that everyone can easily get Buxton in April and see him in every lineup, but now are mad that Votto isn’t someone who everyone will have in their lineup. This may not be the best card but it adds variety
