After many fruitless seasons, an Angel took a sip.

Presented as a Swan, leered, and took a grip.

Chained to place and relaxed His disguise.

Took the words with Heaven in His eyes.

The harvest wavered, the Earth swallowed beneath their feet.

The Angel loomed, the flowers withered in defeat.

Sirens blared and the rivers bled.

Scars formed constellations and its sky shone red.

A distant shriek, bewildering stares.

Oceans descend amidst solemn prayers.

The rolling wheels on stone-cold floors.

Hand-in-hand behind closed doors.

The once sunny days have turned to snow,

and true innocence never reaps what it sows.

The allusions to religion both in explicit and implicit form are interesting especially in connection with passion. The final lines are very suggestive in juxtaposition with the previous paragraph leading the reader to interpret the metaphors more concretely and, perhaps explicitly. Very powerful!

What an unusual happy ending , the loss of innocence as the goal of a (lifelong?) pairing of a couple . There is no judgement of good or bad , simply that it’s consensual ‘hand in hand’ and grows into something more from what was ‘innocence’

Beautiful
